Frequently Asked Questions

Why is this beer so good?

We use fresh ingredients and there is no preservatives or chemicals used. This results in a fresh beer that doesntt give you the hangover that those nasty preservatives cause. Our beer is also unpasteurized so you get a great clean crisp taste.

How long does it take to make my own beer?

It takes only about an hour for the brewing. Your beer will then be ready to drink between 2 to 4 weeks later, depending upon the style of beer you choose.

I have tried home brew before, how is this different?

Your beer is prepared in commercial brewing equipment using tried and tested recipes. We can guarantee a quality product every time. The beer is triple filtered and carbonated before you bottle it so there is no need to prime the bottles with sugar. It is ready to drink straight away.

How much does it cost?

It works out to be between $20 and $29 per carton of 24 x 330ml bottles, depending upon which beer you chose. Your beer is made in a brew of 6 cartons.

How much for bottles?

If you require bottles, The Beer Shed can supply you with enough for your brew. $65 will get you 150 x 330ml bottles which is enough for your 50 litre brew.

Can I bring my own bottles?

Yes, we encourage recycling but the bottles must be cleaned before bringing them in (you wouldn't drink beer from a dirty glass would you?). You must rinse them at our bottle washing table to sterilise them before filling them with your fresh beer. Crown seal are preferred to twist top bottles. We can supply your bottles for you.

What about kegs?

If you don't want the hassle of bottles, we can set you up with kegs so that you can have beer on tap at home. If you already have kegs, speak to staff at The Beer Shed who can inspect your kegs and fill them for you.

Can't I just buy the beer from you?

Due to current legal requirements you have to take part in the process (don't worry it's fun). Our staff will be there to help through the process. You can spend 5 minutes or an hour.

What else do you supply?

We supply party hire kegs, home beer keg systems, personalised beer labels, gift certificates and speak to us about special events such as bucks parties.

How long does the beer stay fresh?

The beer is at it's best when kept cold and will store up to 6 months. We cannot guarantee beer that is not refrigerated after bottling due to it being free from preservatives and unpastuerised.

I don't have the room to keep 6 cartons cold, can you store it for me?

By law we are unable to store drinkable beer on the premises. We suggest getting together with a couple of mates and share the brewing experience and the beer. It is a good excuse to catch up with your mates, have a couple of "quality control samples" plus save some dollars. You can even watch the footy on the TV while your brewing or bottling your beer.

How will I get my beer home?

You can bring boxes, crates or an esky. You can also buy beer cartons and six pack holders from us at a reasonable rate if you wish.
